WHAT EVER HAPPENED...? "Epilogue," "About the Author"

So, I HAVE to have the last word – I couldn't control myself.

I pray that what happened to me (or the examples of other brain injuries I've written about here) doesn't happen to you or someone you love.

But, if it has or does, I hope all of the work I've done here helps you. I know writing has helped me! Rest in peace, all the loved ones of my readers who have died due to their brain injury.

Thank you, God, for letting me live to tell my tale. I will try to live, to the best of my ability, in accordance with your words from Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and SELF-CONTROL….”

[So, God and I have a full-time job with that self-control challenge of mine!]

Janet holds degrees in special education and education. She’s never had any children of her own, but loved being a teacher for 25 years until a massive brain tumor and the damage that it caused led her to be on disability.

Her main reasons for writing this book are to try to help other families that have experienced brain injury, a difficult challenge that changes the lives of everyone involved, and to help the community at large understand people with disabilities better.

Many of her doctors, therapists, and support groups are surprised at how well she manages life’s difficulties. Though she’s no longer able to teach, she loves volunteering with children so she can still contribute to society in some way.

Janet lives with her Puggle, Happy, in Lake Katrine, NY.

What Ever Happened to My White Picket Fence?: My Brain Injury from My Massive Brain Tumor

I (Douglas Winslow Cooper) have been excerpting, weekly, material from this almost-final version of the fine book by Janet Johnson Schliff, M.S. Ed., which she wrote over a three-year period with some coaching and editing help from me, through my business, Write Your Book with Me.

Her memoir is now available in paperback and ebook formats from Outskirts Press  and amazon.com
