UXORIOUS?
I told my beloved, bedridden wife that I am hopelessly uxorious. This rare word, from the Latin “uxor” (wife) means “madly in love with one’s wife.” One of our nurses and I wondered whether there was a corresponding word for a woman who is madly in love with her husband. She text-messaged a divorced woman friend, her expert on matters of the English language. Her friend supplied the corresponding word immediately: “crazy.”
